Movie Review The Wizard Of Oz - 1682 Words

The Wizard of Oz is a MGM blockbuster based on the novel written by L. Frank Baum. The film was directed by Victor Fleming and George Cukor, and released in 1939. The cinematographer responsible for this classic film is Harold Rosson. The main characters included, Dorthy, played by Judy Garland. The Scarecrow, played by Ray Bolger. The Tin Man, played by Jack Haley. And the Cowardly Lion, played by Bert Lahr. This fantasy film was was as much of a hit during its release, as it is now, 75 years later The film opens with a sepia view of a very desolate area in Kansas. The land is barren and pitiful as dust storms sweep through the lands. A tornado comes through the farm where Dorthy lives, unable to make it to the storm shelter with her aunt and uncle, Dorthy is knocked unconscious by flying debris. When Dorthy wakes she finds herself in another world. This world is bright and colorful, filled with all sorts of majestic things. After the initial shock of waking up in a new place, Dorth y’s only concern is now finding her way back home. Dorthy is directed to a yellow brick road, which will lead her to the Emerald City. Once she makes it to Emerald City, she is to seek out the great and powerful Oz, who will help her find her way back to Kansas. On Dorthy s way to Emerald City, to seek out the help of the Wizard of Oz to find her way home she runs into a few different characters.
